Dorland Locksmith Services
The first call is where most of the work actually happens. We ask what you are seeing, how the door behaves, whether the keys are lost or simply left inside, and what kind of vehicle you are standing beside. Those few minutes mean the technician arrives with the right blanks, cylinders and tools, and can give you a clear picture of the job before starting. We would rather ask one question too many than turn up unprepared. Once on site we confirm you are entitled to access, walk you through the plan, and check that you are comfortable with it. Only then do the tools come out.

- Work you can watchThere is nothing hidden about what we do. Stand beside us, ask questions, and we will show you what the lock looks like inside.
- Clean hands, clean floorWe put down a mat where there is drilling, wipe the hardware down and leave the area as we found it, only with a working lock.

How a visit goes
If you rent, losing a key is handled in three steps rather than one. Tell your landlord first, since a lock change on a rented unit goes smoother when both sides know about it and both end up with a working key.
1 of 3
Planning the levels
Together we list the doors, then decide who should open everything, who should open a floor and who should open one room. That structure becomes the keying chart.
2 of 3
Pinning to the chart
Every cylinder is pinned so the right keys work and nothing else does. We check each combination against the chart as we go, not at the end.
3 of 3
Delivering keys and the record
You receive the keys labelled by level, the chart and a plain explanation of how to add a door or retire a key later without redoing the whole system.

2021 census · what it means at the door
50%Older homes
About 50% of homes in Woodstock were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
Older housing means older frames. Wood that has settled for years leaves strikes slightly out of line, so a bolt drags or needs a lift of the handle. A locksmith expects this and brings the shims, longer screws and strike plates to correct it.
57%
Single-detached houses make up about 57% of homes in Woodstock (2021 Census).
Mixed housing brings mixed hardware ages as well as types. A locksmith may rebuild a mortise lock on a semi-detached house and then set up a keypad on a townhouse door across the road, and treats each with the care its owner expects.
